The lydian mode has a cool sound that you don’t hear every day in rock music. It tends to make appearances with players like Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, and other shredders.
It’s unique sound is largely created by the #4 (which could also be referred to as the #11). You’ll find that note one scale step above the 3rd. Hang around that note to really latch on to that lydian sound.
