HCG Student Resources

UPDATED MAY '08. I re-designed this area to make it a little simpler to use. There's still work to be done, but I'm making progress. Please keep checking back. And e-mail me if you have any problems.

Here is the page that finally does what I really intended this website to do in the first place. It provides my guitar students with a resource that they can go to for extra help and practice.

TO MY STUDENTS: Please drop me an e-mail (paul@highcountryguitar.com) if you've been here. Let me know what you think...what worked? What didn't work? What information was lacking? What other songs do you want to see? I'd appreciate any comments...I would really like to see this website become a big part of your guitar lesssons.

TO EVERYONE ELSE: Please note that these pages, tabs, audio clips, etc., are intended for my students--the people who take lessons from me every week. If you are NOT a student of mine, you are more than welcome here, but you might find that you need more information than what you see here, and I may not have time to answer all of your questions.

Before we get to the songs, there are a few other things on this website that I'd like to point out:

  • The Online Guitar Tuner and the Online Metronome (both links can be found at the bottom of the menu on the left side of your screen). These are really handy tools for practicing. I ESPECIALLY encourage you to make use of the metronome. You already know how much I talk about how important it is to have good rhythm. Use it! Live it!
  • The Practical Music Theory section of the site may be of interest if you want to learn a little bit more about the notes & chords you are playing.
  • There are, literally, millions of guitar-related websites out there. Like everything else on the internet, they are of varying quality, but if you have some time, there is a lot of worthwhile stuff out there. The "Suggested Surfing & Reading" page will get you started.
  • My more advanced students should check out the Modes Workshop. If we have talked about modes in your lessons, this is where you can go to REALLY learn what to do with them.

The Songs

Songs appear in alphabetical order by song title.

All audio on these pages is purely for educational purposes. I encourage you to find and purchase complete recordings of all of the songs here. Most are available on I-Tunes or a similar service for one measly dollar. And I can guarantee that you won't be making a mistake if you buy complete CD's by bands like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, etc. Essential parts of any guitarists' collection!
